Forum: movie_of_the_week Subject: Computers? What computers?

A neat little film showing how things worked at your local bank in the days before computers. Just think, doing everything manually could cause the cashiers to make minor mistakes, having you lose a dollar or two. Makes me glad for the modern computer days, where a simple computer error can cause mistakes causing you to lose thousands...

The scene with the customer and the bank official seems somewhat off, like the people in the film aren't the voices we hear on the soundtrack. I wonder if the film was shot silent, with voice actors providing the dialog later.

I also wonder if the scene would have gone the same if the borrower had wanted the money for, say, a less conventional business? "Well, Mr. Jones, your letter stating why the community needs another adult bookstore seems convincing..."
